The key role of the governing body is to ensure Ash Church of England School has a clear vision. We support the Christian ethos and strategic direction of the school by holding the senior leadership team to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and for the performance management of its staff. We oversee the financial performance of the school, making sure its money is well spent. The governors recognise that the staff at Ash Church of England School puts in a huge amount of extra time and effort to ensure all children are valued and encouraged to aim high.
Governors are drawn from different backgrounds to get a good mix of talents, skills, opinions and ideas. They are parents, Local Education Authority staff, teachers or Foundation Governors, who are involved or linked with the Church of England in various ways. The Church of England founded our school in 1846 and still actively engages with the running of the school by supporting Governors.
We have organised regular sessions with three or four Governors inviting a few parents chosen at random to ask what they think of the school, and explore ideas with them on how to further improve it! All parents are invited to come in and give us their opinions in a random rotation. These meetings have proved very useful, and we have already implemented some of your ideas, and are working on implementing more.
Governors work together in committees to address the various needs of the school - currently these are: Value, Quality, Pay and Performance.
We welcome you to contact us, via the school office, with any ideas or concerns you may have with your child at the school. We will treat your comments in strict confidence, feedback and discuss thoroughly any suggestions with the Leadership Team and support implementation of improvements as required.
