Welcome to Jaya Class
This year, Jaya Class is made up of fifteen Year 5 pupils and nineteen Year 4 pupils who are taught by Mrs Radford-Hyland, Mr Jones, Mrs Whitehead and Miss Trenchard.
Please help your child as much as you can at home. The children will have spellings to learn and a piece of homework set each week. An atlas and a dictionary at home are strongly recommended. Regular practising of times table facts would also be of great benefit to your child as would regular listening to your child read aloud.
Please ensure your child is regularly reading at home and that they keep a clear record of this in their reading record book. They will need to bring this reading record to school every day. Every child has also been given a homework diary. Again, this needs to be brought into school each day so that the children can write in details of important dates or events during the week.
Reading - Daily.
Spellings - Given out on Tuesday and tested the following Monday
Guided reading - Given out on a Friday to be returned the following Friday
Numeracy - Given out on a Thursday to be returned on
the following Monday.
Please discuss homework with your child and refer to your child’s homework diary. Where a child needs support in completing their homework, please write a brief comment in their homework book detailing the help you provided.
Every Monday the children will have a spelling test and will receive the new spellings to practise over the week. They will be from the Year 3/4 or Year 5/6 spelling lists depending on their year group. You can view the spellings on pages 11-17 (Year 4) and pages 18-23 (Year 5) on the link below.
If you have any worries or concerns, please don’t hesitate to come and speak with me or send an email via the school office.
