    Welly Walks

At Ash Explorers, our welly walks are an important part of our week. We love to go outside and explore our natural world. We learn to walk safely together as a group over to the Millennium Woods and play in the environment, looking for bugs and insects, observing wildlife such as squirrels and birds, and we love to look at the flowers and trees around us. Engaging in welly walks helps improve our mental health and emotional well-being

    Gardening

At Ash Explorers, our children take great interest in looking after our garden. We plant flower seeds and seeds to grow fruits and vegetables. The children water and look after our garden and are very excited as we watch them grow and then we taste the fruits and vegetables we grow!  Growing our fruits and vegetables gives our children early opportunities to discuss healthy eating and nutrition, it also develops their confidence and self-esteem through ownership of their projects.

    Physical Education

At Ash Explorers we love to take part in lots of physical activities. Once a week, we engage in different physical activities, such as, obstacle courses, riding balance bikes, running games, ball games, dance and so much more! Incorporating physical education into the EYFS is vital for nurturing children's overall development. It supports their physical health, cognitive abilities, and emotional well-being.

    Cooking

At Ash Explorers we love to engage in cooking and baking. The children are learning skills of working together and their communication and listening skills, talking to one another and following instructions. We learn to use tools safely and use mathematical language to teach our children to help their development as they grow. Children take great pride in their cooking and seeing their finished product, although most say the best bit is eating it!

     Music

At Ash Explorers we love music. We love to sing songs at every opportunity! Once a week we have a music session together. We learn to play our instruments loud, quiet, fast and slow. The children love engaging in playing with different instruments and finding out the different sounds they make. Music encourages movement, which develops their gross and fine motor skills. Music also helps children to focus, it aids in recalling words, tunes and actions, building their concentration skills for other areas of learning.
