Welcome to Earth Class!

We are excited to welcome both the new Reception children and Year 1's into Earth Class. We cannot wait to hear all about your summer holidays and get to know you all! 

In Reception, children learn through a combination of play-based activities and structured lessons. The Early Years Curriculum is designed to be engaging and develop fundamental skills including; Literacy, Maths, Communication and Language, Physical Development, Expressive Arts and Design and Personal, Social and Emotional development. During the first half term our focus topic is 'Let's Explore'. 

In Year 1, children transition to a more structured teaching approach within the National Curriculum. The curriculum is taught through a combination of teacher-led learning, group work and focus activities. Key subjects include English, Maths, Science with a focus on phonics, reading comprehension and basic writing skills. Year 1 children will also participate in other subjects including Geography, History, RE, Computing, Music, PE, Outdoor Learning and Art. Year 1 will be taught by both Miss Young and Ms Isaac, with many opportunities to work in class with Year 2.
