A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
At Ash Primary School we ensure all children develop their fundamental movement skills, in order to improve levels of agility, balance, co-ordination and spatial awareness. We aim for all children to recognise the importance of exercise in terms of fitness, mental well-being and general levels of health, not just for the present but long into their future. We strive to nurture a safe environment, for each and every learner, where they can confidently enhance levels of cognition, communication and cooperation, recognising the importance of team skills, as skills for life.
