Early Reading and Phonics
Phonics at Ash is taught through the Little Wandle Programme to provide an enjoyable and effective learning experience for our pupils in Early Years and Key Stage 1. This scheme enables our children to become proficient readers able to sound, decode, blend and gain in fluency.
Collins Big Cat reading scheme is used in both Foundation Stage (Reception) and Key Stage 1 to support their learning. This allows our pupils to progressively build their vocabulary and comprehension skills as they practise reading key words and become increasingly fluent readers.
